When Joey Gallo hits home runs, they tend to come in bunches. That was the case on Wednesday, when the Rangers' No. 1 prospect slugged a pair of home runs for the second time this season as Triple-A Round Rock fell to Omaha, 6-4.
The multi-homer performance was already the 19th of Gallo's young career, and it comes just four games after he accomplished the feat against the Iowa Cubs.
Gallo, No. 7 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100, popped out and struck out in his first two at-bats before connecting on a solo home run to right field against Omaha starter John Lannan to open the sixth inning. In his next trip to the plate, Gallo launched a two-run shot to the opposite field off of Clayton Mortensen.

Gallo struggled last season in his first taste of the Triple-A level, hitting just .195 with 14 home runs and a 39.5 percent strikeout rate in 53 games at Round Rock. That came after he hit .204 with a 46.3 percent strikeout rate in 36 games with the Rangers.
But after a solid showing this spring in big league camp, the 22-year-old slugger has enjoyed a strong start this season in his return to Round Rock, where he's hitting .346 with four home runs and 11 RBIs through his first seven contests.

• No. 3 overall prospect J.P. Crawford went 1-for-4 with his first home run of the season as Double-A Reading beat Richmond, 6-4. The Phillies' No. 1 prospect is hitting .355 with six runs scored through his first seven games, and he's collected a hit in six straight for the Fightin Phils.

• After missing the last two years with injuries, No. 52 overall prospect Jameson Taillon fired six innings of one-run ball for Triple-A Indianapolis in a win over Toledo in his first regular-season start since 2013. The Pirates' No. 4 prospect scattered five hits, struck out six and, at one point, retired nine straight hitters.

• No. 61 overall prospect Amir Garrett, in his second start of the season for Double-A Pensacola, struck out seven batters in six scoreless innings in a no-decision against Jackson. The Reds' No. 4 prospect allowed four hits and one walk and found the strike zone with 55 of his 79 pitches.
• Brewers No. 11 prospect Isan Diaz, the 2015 Pioneer League MVP, went 4-for-5 with three doubles, three RBIs and scored three runs out of the leadoff spot in Class A Wisconsin's rout of Burlington. No. 15 prospect Monte Harrison, whose 2015 full-season debut was cut short due to an ankle injury, also had a big game, going 3-for-5 with a triple, double, two RBIs and a stolen base.
• Diamondbacks No. 11 prospect Gabriel Guerrero powered Double-A Mobile to a 9-3 win over Biloxi by hitting two home runs and driving in six runs as part of a 3-for-4 performance. Jamie Westbrook, the club's No. 25 prospect, was also 3-for-4 with a double.

• Diamondbacks No. 12 prospect Taylor Clarke paced Class A Kane County in a win over Cedar Rapids, allowing two hits and striking out four in six scoreless innings. The 22-year-old righty has given up one run on five hits in 10 innings across his first two starts for the Cougars.
• Giants No. 12 prospect Jalen Miller collected multiple hits for the fourth straight game, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs for Class A Augusta. The 19-year-old shortstop -- San Francisco's third-round Draft pick in 2015 -- has hit .423 (11-for-26) with four extra-base hits and seven RBIs through his first six games.
• Making his Triple-A debut, Nationals No. 9 prospect Austin Voth yielded three hits, all singles, and struck out six hitters in six scoreless innings for Syracuse, who went on to defeat Buffalo in 13 innings.

• Phillies No. 15 prospect Tom Eshelman, acquired from Houston as part of the Ken Giles trade, fired seven scoreless innings in his second start for Class A Advanced Clearwater. The 2015 second-rounder allowed a pair of hits and walks and struck out four, throwing 55 of his 77 pitches for strikes.
• Rays No. 9 prospect Jacob Faria yielded one earned on two hits over seven innings, striking out seven, in Double-A Montgomery's loss to Mississippi. He's allowed just eight hitters (5 H, 3 BB) to reach base through his first 12 2/3 innings (0.63 WHIP) this season, with 15 strikeouts in that span.
• After he hit just .238 last year in his injury-plagued full-season debut, Tigers No. 3 prospect Derek Hill is making up for the lost time with his hot start back at Class A West Michigan, where he's hit .350 with nine runs scored and five steals through five games. He tallied multiple hits for the second straight game on Wednesday, when he went 3-for-4 with a triple, double, two RBIs and a steal against Lake County.
• Twins No. 28 prospect Daniel Palka, acquired from the Diamondbacks during the offseason, went 3-for-4 and slugged his first home run of the season in Double-A Chattanooga's win over Jackson. In 2015, Palka was one of just three Minor Leaguers to hit at least 20 homers and steal 20 bases, accruing 29 and 24, respectively, in 129 games for Class A Advanced Visalia.
