Source: Gibbons, Blue Jays rework contract

The Blue Jays and manager John Gibbons have come to terms on a contract restructuring, a source confirmed to MLB.com.

According to MLB Network Radio's Steve Phillips, the Toronto skipper's new contract includes a pay raise and guarantees his salary through 2017. The club has not confirmed the report.

The new deal would also remove his unique annual rollover clause, which automatically picked up the following year's option, if the Blue Jays did not decline it by Jan. 1, and then add an additional option year.

Gibbons led the club to the American League East title last season. The Blue Jays are 250-236 over the last three years under Gibbons.
