John Smoltz Hall of Fame Induction and Number Retirement Slated for Friday, June 8, 2012

WHO: The Atlanta Braves will pay tribute to legendary pitcher John Smoltz on Friday, June 8 by inducting him into the Braves Hall of Fame and retiring his uniform number. Smoltz, a current broadcaster for MLB Network and TBS, spent 20 seasons in a Braves uniform.
WHAT: Smoltz's induction into the Braves Hall of Fame will take place during a special luncheon held at the Omni Hotel, adjacent to the CNN Center, in the Grand Ballroom.

Prior to the matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays, Smoltz's uniform number will be retired during an on-field ceremony. Smoltz's number 29 will be the ninth Braves uniform number to be retired, joining Hank Aaron (44), Eddie Mathews (41), Dale Murphy (3), Phil Niekro (35), Warren Spahn (21) and Greg Maddux (31), Tom Glavine (47) and Bobby Cox (6). The Braves also retired the number 42, along with all Major League Baseball teams, to honor Jackie Robinson.

WHERE: Hall of Fame Luncheon:
• The Omni Hotel at CNN Center at 11:30 a.m. Luncheon will be held in the Grand Ballroom.
• Post-event interviews will be held in the Magnolia Room immediately following the luncheon.

Number Retirement Pregame Ceremonies:
• Turner Field
• On-field presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m.
