PHOENIX -- Ryan Braun delivered an RBI single in his first at-bat of the spring, Jonathan Lucroy homered and Matt Garza pitched four scoreless innings in the Brewers' 5-2 win over the White Sox on Wednesday at Maryvale Baseball Park.
Garza was displeased with his three walks, but he surrendered only two hits and induced a pair of double plays in a mostly low-stress start. He pitched with a lead thanks to Braun's first-inning RBI single off Chicago starter Carlos Rodon.

Lucroy's first spring home run extended the lead in the third inning before Braun walked and scored from first base on Chris Carter's double to the left-center-field gap. The Brewers tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning after Braun had exited the game.

"Somehow it always seems to work out that way, right?" said Braun, whose debut was pushed to the third week of games because he's coming off back surgery. "The ball finds you and the opportunities find you.
"First defensive play of the game, running catch into the sun. I got a chance to score from first. Couple decent at-bats. So I felt like I was tested in a lot of ways today and I feel great."

The White Sox cut into the Brewers' lead in the sixth inning on pinch-hitter Jacob May's run-scoring groundout, which brought home Tim Anderson after the shortstop's triple. Chicago made it 5-2 an inning later on Andy Parrino's sacrifice fly.

Anderson also flashed his glove in the third inning, diving to his right and making a strong throw to rob Brewers leadoff hitter Eric Young Jr. of a base hit.
Rodon took the loss after allowing four earned runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings. "I felt all right, you know. I feel good," Rodon said. "I just got behind on a couple of guys. ... When you get ahead on a guy, 0-2, 1-2, the last thing you want to do is throw the ball down the middle and give up a single. That's a little frustrating. I'd like to get the guy out, at least get him to beat the ball into the ground."
White Sox Up Next: The White Sox have their Cactus League off-day on Thursday, and they will resume play on Friday against the Cubs at Camelback Ranch at 3:05 p.m. CT. Manager Robin Ventura has yet to name a starter for that game as he begins the process of lining his rotation for the season opener at Oakland on April 4, less than three weeks away.
