MAIMI -- Rockies left-handed pitcher Jorge De La Rosa wasn't going to make the same mistake thrice.
On a night when the ball was flying over the Marlins Park fence, Marcell Ozuna gave wings to De La Rosa pitches in the first and fourth innings. But De La Rosa learned his lesson with two on and two out in the fifth, and retired Ozuna with his biggest pitch of the Rockies' 5-3 victory.
"The homers were two changeups in the middle," De La Rosa said. "He's swinging it really good. I just tried to stay away from changeups in that at-bat and just get a ground ball."
De La Rosa (4-4) threw a cut fastball, and Ozuna grounded to short to end the fifth-inning threat, and the southpaw would pitch through the sixth for his second straight victory.
The Rockies had removed De La Rosa -- their Opening Night starter -- from the rotation after six mostly poor starts. He bounced back with five scoreless, three-hit innings in a 13-10 victory over the Yankees on Tuesday at Coors Field.

Monday wasn't as smooth. Ozuna homered twice and Giancarlo Stanton went deep once -- the pair homered consecutively in the first inning. But De La Rosa held the Marlins to two other hits, struck out three and walked two and earned a "W" on a night that saw the teams combine for eight solo homers -- the most in Major League history in a game in which all of the runs scored on solo shots.
"He looks like himself, looks like the 'De La' that we know, using all his pitches, minimizing damage whenever traffic shows up," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "He's always been a master at that."
The Marlins' J.T. Realmuto doubled with two down in the sixth, but De La Rosa coaxed a Derek Dietrich bouncer to the mound. A solid bullpen effort, which featured Miguel Castro shaking off an Ozuna three-run homer in Sunday's 3-0 loss and working Martin Prado into a double-play grounder to end the seventh, brought home a victory that snapped the Rockies' three-game losing streak.
"Every time I pitch, I try to get the win, no matter if we lost the first three games here," De La Rosa said. "Just win. And we did."
