MINNEAPOLIS -- A two-homer, seven-RBI performance rarely if ever gets lost in the shuffle of a Major League Baseball game.
But with the craziness running throughout the White Sox 13-11, 12-inning victory over the Twins Sunday, it's easy to understand how José Abreu's power-packed afternoon, featuring a single-game high in RBIs, doesn't stand alone.
The White Sox first baseman knocked out a three-run homer in the first inning off of Twins starter Andrew Albers. Almost five hours later, the White Sox survived a bases-loaded situation in the 12th to finish 2-5 on this seven-game road trip.
"Thank God we won," said Abreu through interpreter Billy Russo. "It was a very stressful game for both teams. Both teams battled and we got the victory, that was the most important part."
"There were a lot of balls leaving the park today," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "Our guys battled, that's the biggest thing. Even getting down, they kept swinging the bats. Just grinding it out. It's a good win to be able to come back. A lot of guys contributed, and we had some good at-bats."

Abreu's blast off Albers gave the White Sox an early lead that quickly turned into a 9-5 deficit after five frames. Byron Buxton's grand slam off of White Sox starter Anthony Ranaudo and home runs from Brian Dozier and John Ryan Murphy had something to do with that turnaround.
Minnesota's control of the game didn't last long. Abreu connected off of reliever Taylor Rogers in the eighth for a three-run shot, cutting the deficit to one. His first home run traveled 430 feet per Statcast™, but his second home run went a distance of 465 feet with an exit velocity of 107 mph and was the longest homer at Target Field in the Statcast™ era.
After not homering in the month of July, Abreu has 11 homers combined in August and September. He has 22 dingers and 86 RBIs on the season, and his average has jumped to .293.
"He's swinging it. This is what you really expect out of him," Ventura said. "I know it's pretty free and easy right now, but even the home runs and everything that's really more indicative of him, and I know he's feeling pretty good about it. Just sitting in the middle of our lineup being able to drive in some runs."
"This is my best moment of this season so far," Abreu said. "I want to thank the White Sox and the guys, because we are playing as a team and it's not one person."

Many White Sox contributed in this finale of a four-game set at Target Field. Avisaíl García singled home two runs in the ninth to give the White Sox a brief 11-10 lead. Tim Anderson delivered the game-winning double off of Pat Dean in the 12th, marking his third hit of the day.
Juan Minaya earned his first career victory since being called up from Triple-A Charlotte Thursday, and Tommy Kahnle picked up the save. So Abreu's big game was an important -- but not the only -- piece of the puzzle in this victory.
"Guys have to be swinging it around him," Ventura said. "You just feel like he's going to get on base and get something started or drive it in."
