2007: Try, try again

At age 16, Altuve was turned away at an Astros tryout camp because of his size, but came back determined to impress, and Houston signed him for $15,000

July 20, 2011: Welcome to The Show

A career .325 hitter in the Minors, Altuve was called up from Double-A and immediately made an impact, hitting safely in his first 7 games

Aug. 20, 2011: 1st HR stays in the yard Altuve’s 1st career homer was an inside-the-park homer at Minute Maid Park in which he ran through a stop sign at 3rd and scored easily

2012: Hey now, he’s an All-Star

In his 1st full season, Altuve became the last Astros player to be an All-Star in the NL when he was a reserve in the 2012 All-Star Game

2014: 1st batting title (of many) Altuve won the 1st of 3 batting titles in 4 years when he hit .341 and set a club record with 225 hits, securing the batting crown on the season’s final day

2015: All-Star starter

Altuve became the 7th player in club history to earn a fan-elected All-Star start and the 3rd Astros second baseman (Craig Biggio, Jeff Kent) to start the ASG

2017: World Series champion Altuve had a legendary postseason performance, batting .310 with a club-record 22 hits, seven homers and an MLB-record 14 RBIs for a second baseman

Nov. 16, 2017: M-V-P! M-V-P! Altuve joined Jeff Bagwell as the only MVPs in club history when he hit .346 with 24 homers, 81 RBIs and 32 stolen bases, earning 27 of 30 1st-place votes

Oct. 19, 2019: Pennant clincher In one of the most epic homers in postseason history, Altuve hit a walk-off blast vs. Aroldis Chapman in Game 6 of the ‘19 ALCS to send the Astros back to the World Series
