OAKLAND -- Josh Phegley believes he'll be fine after leaving Tuesday's game, a 10-6 loss, in the ninth inning after being hit on the left kneecap by an Alex Claudio slider.
Phegley attempted to walk to first but instead turned around and departed alongside a trainer and manager Bob Melvin. He said after the game that he's not concerned and thinks he could be back in the lineup on Wednesday.
"There's going to be some kind of swelling because of the impact, but if we can keep that to a minimum, I'll be absolutely fine," Phegley said.
Phegley said the ball hit him squarely on the bone.
"It just kind of shocked my knee and I couldn't put any weight on it for a minute. It started going away as I walked around. I ran up the tunnel to get here and test it out and it was fine," he said.
Phegley has started three straight games, as the A's faced three lefties in a row, and they'll face a fourth on Wednesday in Texas' Derek Holland. He's hit a number of balls hard, including a two-run double on Tuesday night and a three-run homer on Monday, and is hitting .381 in six starts since being reinstated from the disabled list on May 27 after missing time with inflammation in his right knee.

He feels like he's seeing the ball well right now.
"The one thing that helped was [that] on the rehab assignment, I got at-bats every day. I was gaining some consistency with my approach and seeing live pitching consistently," he said. "In this series I'm getting a lot of at-bats, especially coming off the last game against Cincinnati. I'm just rolling with it, and I feel pretty good."
