MINNEAPOLIS -- Since providing an initial scare when he made an early exit from Friday's start at Coors Field, Julio Teheran has made a quick recovery and positioned himself to make his next start this weekend.
Taking advantage of Monday's off-day, the Braves have given Teheran a couple extra days of rest and lined him up to start Saturday night's game against the Phillies at Turner Field. The All-Star right-hander has not experienced any lingering effects since he exited Friday's start because of tightness in his right lat -- the large back muscle located behind and below the shoulder.
"It would be crazy to not take advantage of the extra couple of days," Braves manager Brian Snitker said. "After he throws a side [session], we'll have a better idea."
Had the Braves stuck with the same rotation schedule, Teheran would have been lined up to start Thursday's series opener against the Phillies. Now he will have an extra 48 hours to make all of the necessary preparations leading up to Saturday's start.

With Teheran getting a couple more days to recove, each of Atlanta's other starting pitchers for the Phillies series will now take the mound on regular rest.
Teheran played catch from a distance of 120 feet and completed all of normal stretching exercises in pain-free fashion before Tuesday night's game against the Twins. He will get back on the mound to complete a side session on Wednesday or Thursday.
"[My back] didn't bother me at all," Teheran said. "It feels pretty good."
The Braves were initially worried Teheran might need to go on the disabled list when he exited Friday's game against the Rockies. He initially felt some discomfort while throwing a pitch in the third inning, but he did not exit until shortstop Erick Aybar urged him to inform the team's medical staff during the fifth inning.
Teheran admitted he was surprisingly encouraged by how he felt when he awoke on Saturday. His concerns about potentially going on the disabled list further evaporated on Sunday, when he felt little discomfort while playing catch.
