KANSAS CITY -- The Royals didn't have the season they hoped to, finishing with a losing record (80-82) for the first time since 2012.
Yet there were some special moments on the diamond in 2017. Among them:
Moustakas sets Royals record
In a 15-5 Royals win in Toronto on Sept. 20, Mike Moustakas belts his 37th home run, breaking the Royals' all-time single-season record, set by Steve Balboni in 1985.

Royals end Tribe's streak
Left-hander Mike Minor notches his first career save, striking out the side in the ninth to preserve a 4-3 Royals win on Sept. 15 to end the Indians' win streak at 22 games.

Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat
On July 19 against the Tigers, closer Kelvin Herrera blows a 2-1 lead in the ninth by giving up a two-run homer to Michael Mahtook. But disaster is turned to triumph when Brandon Moss knocks in the tying run with a double in the bottom of the frame and Alex Gordon wins it with a sacrifice fly. It's the beginning of a nine-game winning streak for the Royals.

Hosmer ends it
Eric Hosmer hammers his first career walk-off homer, a three-run blast off former teammate Greg Holland as the Royals post a dramatic 6-4 win over the Rockies on Aug. 23.

Salvy leads comeback
On June 21 vs. the Red Sox, the Royals come back from a 4-2 deficit with a four-run eighth inning thanks to Salvador Perez's first career grand slam -- and it was using Jose Cabrera's bat, which backup catcher Andrew Butera had given him. (Cabrera had given Butera some of his bats weeks earlier.) The Royals held on for the 6-4 win.
