O'Hearn was hitting .419 with five home runs and 13 RBIs but was destined for the Minor Leagues after the Royals acquired Lucas Duda to play first base.

The Royals also sent out pitchers Kevin Lenik and Glenn Sparkman, along with catchers Nick Dini and Parker Morin and infielders Cody Asche and Erick Mejia.

The Royals now have 39 players left in camp.
