Kendrys, Salvy ruled day to day with injuries

KANSAS CITY -- Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales left Thursday night's 6-4 win over the White Sox in the fifth inning with tightness in his left quad, and catcher Salvador Perez exited in the eighth inning due to swelling in his right thumb.

The Royals listed both as day to day.

"Kendrys has just tightness in his quad," manager Ned Yost said. "Just being extra cautious right now. Alex Rios had a stiff back. Wade [Davis] had a stiff back, so I'm trying to stay away from him. Sal with the thumb got jammed. They are all very trivial [injuries] and day to day. Just overly cautious."

Morales had just walked for the third straight time and had advanced to third on Perez's double. Morales did not appear to be limping as he approached third base. But after a few pitches to the next hitter, Morales asked for trainer Nick Kenney to come out. Soon after, Cheslor Cuthbert came in as the pinch-runner.

Perez jammed his thumb during an early at-bat, according to Kenney.
