Morales sits with bruise from hit by pitch

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals were without regular designated hitter Kendrys Morales in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Indians after Morales suffered a lower body bruise from being hit by a Kyle Crockett pitch in the eighth inning of Saturday's game against the Indians.

Morales took his base, but was quickly removed for pinch-runner Paulo Orlando with a 1-1 count. X-rays on Morales were negative and manager Ned Yost said Morales felt improvement by the time he reported to the ballpark Sunday morning.

"He's a little sore, but he'll be all right," Yost said. "Day to day. He feels a lot better than when he left here [Saturday]."

Yost used Alex Gordon as the designated hitter in the regular season home finale on Sunday against the Indians, with Jarrod Dyson starting in left field. Gordon had an RBI single in Sunday's win, while Dyson singled and scored a run.
