Kickham recalled to bolster pitching staff

SAN FRANCISCO -- Left-hander Mike Kickham, who made his Major League debut earlier this season with the Giants, was recalled Friday.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said he wanted 13 pitchers available for the time being. Kickham worked four innings in Wednesday's 12-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox and is expected to be available out of the bullpen.

Nick Noonan was optioned to Triple-A Fresno to make room on the roster.

Kickham and Noonan are the only Giants players to make their Major League debuts this year.

Kickham, who is ranked as the third-best Giants prospect, was selected by San Francisco in the sixth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.
