CHICAGO -- Justin Turner's phone blew up as you'd expect after he slugged the greatest Dodgers postseason walk-off homer since Kirk Gibson, but one text message was from a name he never expected: Kirk Gibson.
"He texted me yesterday morning. It was really cool," said Turner, who topped his already significant October achievements with Sunday's night's winner in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series presented by Camping World.

The initial text message:
"Congrats young man. Keep embracing the big moment. You earned it. -- Kirk Gibson"
Turner texted back:
"I can't imagine doing it in the World Series."
Replied Gibson:
"You may get a chance. You've worked so hard. Now, go get it."
And from Turner:
"Thank you so much for reaching out."
Gibson's walk-off homer won Game 1 of the 1988 World Series, the last one the Dodgers have captured.

Seager getting better
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said injured shortstop Corey Seager reported continued improvement from Los Angeles and was able to begin light work in the weight room.
"He did some plyometrics stuff, ladder work, was moving well," said Roberts. "How he responds tomorrow from the ladder work, we'll find out, but today was certainly a positive day for Corey. Tomorrow, the plan is to get him out there and play some catch. We'll go from there."
Seager was left off the series roster with a sprained lower back. He was replaced at shortstop by Charlie Culberson in the first two games. Chris Taylor moved from center field to shortstop for Game 3, with Joc Pederson starting in center.
"We trust C.T. in there, but it also gets Joc in there against a right-handed pitcher [Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks]," said Roberts. "We still have Charlie on the bench for defensive replacement."
Grandal will start behind plate in Game 4
Roberts said he expects to start displaced first-string catcher Yasmani Grandal in Game 4 on Wednesday night, his first start of the series after losing the job to hot-hitting Austin Barnes.
"I think he's handled it as well as anyone who was essentially the starter the whole year," Roberts said of Grandal. "It's more of, each individual game you look at and who gives us the best chance in that particular spot. To have him on the bench is still a huge value. I'm sure he's disappointed. He knows he's still a huge part of this team.
"Defensively, I think they are very comparable. Yas throws better, as far as the game calling and blocking, very comparable. We have two elite catchers. I love Austin's focus, his ability to separate the offense and defense parts."
