CHICAGO -- The Cubs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of their 8-4 win over the Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Saturday night behind an RBI double from Kris Bryant.
Game 2 of the NLCS is scheduled for Sunday night at 8 ET/7 CT, live on FS1.
Dexter Fowler opened the bottom of the first with a single off Dodgers right-hander Kenta Maeda, who became the fifth Dodgers rookie to start an NLCS game. Bryant then ripped a 1-2 slider over the head of left fielder Howie Kendrick and off Wrigley Field's left-field wall to tally his fourth RBI of the postseason.
According to Statcast™, Bryant's drive had a hang time of 4.6 seconds and landed 67 feet from Kendrick's starting point. Balls hit with those metrics are caught 90 percent of the time, but the wind was blowing out to left field at 14 mph as of first pitch and the ball likely carried farther than Kendrick expected.
The Cubs, who scored first in three of their four NL Division Series games, went 73-20 when cracking the scoreboard before their opponent during the regular season.
