Seager returns to lineup, knocks in 500th run

ST. PETERSBURG -- is feeling better after a stomach virus caused him to rapidly shed 12 pounds and miss two games this week.
"He did lose a significant amount of weight," Mariners manager Scott Servais said. "He still looks pretty thin, but he's ready to give it a go tonight."
Seager said he didn't know what caused the illness, but added he is building his strength back up and will be fine. Seager batted fifth for Friday's tilt with the Rays and had an RBI groundout in the first inning for his 500th RBI. Seager is the 10th player in franchise history to achieve the feat.
A near-constant at third base for the Mariners, Seager has played at least 155 games in each of the last five seasons. With his short absence this week, he's missed a total of six games this year.
Worth noting
Recovering from a right elbow injury, threw off a mound Friday.
"The report was really good," Servais said. "He threw some breaking pitches. No issues."
The Mariners' Trade Deadline acquisition is scheduled to throw a simulated game when the team travels to Atlanta after its series with the Rays. Phelps, who was placed on the disabled list on Aug. 8, has thrown seven innings with Seattle, striking out 11 and allowing two runs.
