Lance Berkman to Headline 2017 Christian Day at the Ballpark

The St. Louis Cardinals announced details for the 27th annual Christian Day at the Ballpark on Sunday, July 30, presented by Thrivent Financial, featuring a postgame program highlighted by former Cardinals outfielder (2011-2012) and 2011 World Series champion, Lance Berkman.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced details for the 27th annual Christian Day at the Ballpark on Sunday, July 30, presented by Thrivent Financial, featuring a postgame program highlighted by former Cardinals outfielder (2011-2012) and 2011 World Series champion, Lance Berkman.
Christian Day at the Ballpark is a day of faith, fellowship and baseball which begins when the Cardinals take on the Arizona Diamondbacks at 1:15 p.m. Following the game, all fans are encouraged to stay for a special postgame program emceed by Cardinals broadcaster Ricky Horton featuring Berkman, current Cardinals players and Manager Mike Matheny sharing their testimonies in faith. A popular event each season, past Christian Day event speakers have included Kurt Warner, Lou Brock, Mike Singletary, Marcus Luttrell, Willie Robertson, Tony Dungy, David Eckstein and Adam Wainwright.
"Christian Day is a great mix of both baseball and faith that we look forward to every summer," said Joe Strohm, Cardinals Vice President of Ticket Sales. "This year we are honored to have Lance Berkman back at Busch Stadium to share his faith story."
Berkman played 15 Major League seasons from 1999-2013, with four different organizations (Astros, Yankees Cardinals and Rangers). He was a member of the Houston Astros first National League Championship team in 2005 and won a World Series ring with the Cardinals in 2011 after hitting .423 in the Fall Classic, including a clutch two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the 10th inning in Game 6. The switch-hitting, six-time All-Star played in over 1800 games and posted career totals of 366 home runs, 1234 RBI along with a .293/.406/.549 slash line. He finished in the top seven of N.L. MVP voting seven times and won the N.L. Comeback Player of the Year with the Cardinals in 2011.
