• Braun took fly balls in the field on Saturday, another step in his return from a right rib-cage strain. But it's not a sure thing that Braun will be ready to play immediately after his stint on the disabled lost expires Monday.

"He feels good. He swung a lot better today in BP," Roenicke said. "He's still not probably there. We're still hopeful for Tuesday, but I'm not sure."

• Roenicke said the Brewers lodged complaints with Major League Baseball about the fact Pirates outfielder Travis Snider was allowed to serve his two-game suspension on Friday and Saturday, meaning Pittsburgh will be back to full strength when they visit Miller Park on Tuesday for the start of a three-game series. The Brewers, meanwhile, may be a man short if any portion of Carlos Gomez's three-game suspension is upheld.

The Brewers believe the timing of the suspensions is unfair, since the teams are going head to head.

"I don't really want to get into it, because that's [the league's] decisions," Roenicke said.
