Latest tally shows Rays need All-Star help

ANAHEIM -- The leaders in the voting on the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot to become starters on the American League All-Star team were announced on Monday, and the Rays are going to need some help from their fans if any players are going to get elected to this year's Midsummer Classic.

Despite the fact that the Rays were four games over .500 and 1 1/2 games behind the Yankees after Sunday's action, no Tampa Bay players currently rank among the AL leaders.

"I guess the Tampa fans have to step up a little bit," said a smiling Steven Souza Jr. recently.

That opportunity will present itself during the coming eight-game home stretch that begins Tuesday. Schools are out, so kids going to the games along with their parents need to fill out online ballots for deserving Rays players while they are at the ballpark. Fans can cast their votes for starters at and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- using the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, July 2, at 11:59 p.m. ET. For the first time, voting is exclusively online, where fans may submit up to 35 ballots.

Fans may also receive the ballot by texting VOTE to 89269 (USA) or 101010 (Canada). Or text VOTA for a ballot in Spanish. Message and data rates may apply. Up to five messages. No purchase required. Reply STOP to cancel. Reply HELP for info.
