Lannan goes two innings in spring debut
Left-hander allows one run on four hits with a strikeout vs. Twins

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Left-hander John Lannan was the fifth and final Phillies starter to make his Grapefruit League debut this spring.
He pitched two innings on Wednesday in a 12-5 loss to the Twins at Hammond Stadium. He allowed four hits, one run, one walk and struck out one.
"It was good to get back out there," Lannan said. "The first inning felt good. The second inning, I kind of lost command a little bit. There were some good things and bad things. Some things to work on. I'm relatively happy."
Lannan is virtually guaranteed the fifth spot in the Phillies' rotation, although the front office has said publicly other pitchers are in the mix. But it would be incredibly surprising to see anybody other than Lannan pitching in the fifth game of the season.
"It's a good experience so far," Lannan said. "Learning from all these guys that I've watched so many years from the other side. I'm picking their brains, seeing how Chooch [Carlos Ruiz] calls games and how other guys go about their philosophies from pitching."
