Quad strain forces Beltre to disabled list

Rangers activate recently acquired right-hander Noesi to fill roster spot

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers on Sunday added pitcher Hector Noesi to the active roster and placed third baseman Adrian Beltre on the disabled list, retroactive to April 9, with a strained left quad muscle. Beltre is eligible to come off the disabled list on April 25.

Noesi was acquired from the Mariners on Friday for a player to be named. He has pitched in two games for the Mariners and is 4-16 with a 5.64 ERA in 21 starts and 45 relief appearances in his Major League career, including 2011 with the Yankees.

The Rangers will have to make another roster move before Monday's game so that Colby Lewis can be called up to join the rotation. With Noesi taking over as the long reliever, the Rangers are expected to send down pitcher Daniel McCutchen.

Beltre was supposed to test his quad before Sunday's game, but his workout was canceled by bad weather.
