Legendary Entertainment to sponsor inaugural Frank Robinson Celebrity Golf Invitational

Legendary Entertainment will be the Presenting Sponsor of the inaugural Frank Robinson Celebrity Golf Invitational to benefit the MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton, California, which provides young people (ages 5 to 18) from underserved and urban communities in the Greater Los Angeles area with free, year-round baseball and softball training. Legendary's Chairman and CEO, Thomas Tull, produced the box office smash-hit "42," which was released earlier this year and told the story of Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson breaking baseball's color barrier.

The Frank Robinson Celebrity Golf Invitational will be held on Monday, November 11th at the Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles and also includes a dinner banquet. It is scheduled to feature a number of celebrities throughout the sports and entertainment world (see celebrity list below). The MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton, on which all subsequent Academies are modeled, has served more than 10,000 young men and women in Southern California. More than 350 Academy student-athletes have gone on to participate in collegiate baseball and softball programs, and more than 200 Academy alumni have been selected in the MLB Player Draft, including 14 in the 2013 draft. Two MLB Urban Youth Academy graduates appeared on Major League rosters during the 2013 Regular Season (Hicks, Twins; Anthony Gose, Toronto Blue Jays). Additionally, all MLB Urban Youth Academies provide educational programming, such as SAT/ACT preparation and tutoring. Each Academy's goal is to graduate 100 percent of the youth it serves. MLB Urban Youth Academies also operate baseball vocational programming, offering its participants and members of the local community the opportunity to attend free seminars on umpiring, athletic field management, scouting and player development, sports and broadcast journalism, public relations and statistics, as well as athletic sports training.
