LHP John Lannan recalled from Syracuse

The Washington Nationals today recalled left-handed pitcher John Lannan from Syracuse of the Triple-A International League. Nationals Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Lannan will start the first game of today’s doubleheader against the Miami Marlins. The 27-year-old went 6-10 with a 5.24 ERA in 19 starts this season with Syracuse.

Lannan earned the win in his lone start with Washington in 2012, holding the Atlanta Braves to just two runs (both earned) on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 7.0 innings during the second game of a day-night doubleheader on July 21.

Washington’s Opening Day starter in 2009-10, Lannan is 39-51 with a 3.99 ERA in 129 starts during six seasons (2007-12) with the Nationals.
