LHP Tommy Hottovy claimed by Toronto

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired left-handed pitcher Tommy Hottovy (pronounced HAWT-uh-vee) from Texas today on a waiver claim.  Hottovy had been designated for assignment by Texas on Monday when the club signed Lance Berkman.

Hottovy, 31, had been acquired by Texas on a waiver claim on November 8 after having been designated for assignment by Kansas City on November 2.  He made 9 relief appearances for the Royals last year and has a career 4.05 ERA (6 ER/13.1 IP) in 17 relief outings in the major leagues with Boston (2011) and Kansas City (2012).
