OAKLAND -- A's reliever Liam Hendriks was reinstated from the disabled list ahead of the club's series finale against the Angels on Sunday, pitching two scoreless innings in a 2-0 loss.
Hendriks struck out two in that span, totaling 23 pitches, 16 for strikes, in his first appearance since May 7.
"Looked like good command," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "I didn't originally expect him to throw two innings. Wasn't going to go more than 30 pitches, but he threw the ball over the plate, kept his pitch count under control and probably had as good a slider as we've seen, too."

Hendriks spent five weeks on the DL with a triceps strain, making four Minor League rehab appearances and pitching to a 3.18 ERA in that span. The A's are hoping to get back the pitcher who turned in a 2.92 ERA for the Blue Jays last season.
Acquired by the A's for right-hander Jesse Chavez in the offseason, Hendriks had an 8.27 ERA and .394 opponents average for the A's at the time of his injury.
"He's a guy we signed in the offseason for a reason," Melvin said. "Got off to a little bit of a tough start. Whether or not the arm issues were a part of that, we feel like he's 100 percent healthy now, so we need him to contribute."

Right-hander Andrew Triggs, who pitched well over three-plus innings in a spot start Saturday, was optioned to Triple-A Nashville as the corresponding move for Hendriks.
"He really did a great job for us," A's manager Bob Melvin said of Triggs. "Can't understate that. He's done a nice job for us in any role we've asked him to pitch here."
Triggs would have been unavailable out of the bullpen for several days following Saturday's 50-pitch outing, leaving him as the odd man out.
