Libraries in 25 DFW municipalities to participate in 2014 Texas Rangers Summer Reading Club

Rangers catcher Geovany Soto serves as honorary spokesman of 2014 program

Arlington, Texas - The 2014 Texas Rangers Summer Reading Program is now underway with the participation of the local libraries in 25 municipalities in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Rangers catcher Geovany Soto, who is serving as the Reading Club's Honorary Spokesman, kicked off the 2014 program with an event on Tuesday at the Arlington Central Library.

All students in grades K through 12 are eligible and information and reading logs are available at any of the participating libraries. Students are asked to record the number of minutes they read from Monday through Friday over a four-week period on the reading log to become an official summer Reading Club All-Star.

All Reading Club participants receive a club bookmark and are eligible for discounted tickets for the Rangers home game with the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, August 17. Students should check with their local library for specifics on how to earn the discounted ticket, which is priced at just $2.00 per student. Family members and friends may buy additional tickets at a discounted price for the August 17 game if purchased by mail in advance by Friday, August 15.

Each Summer Club reading participant who attends the August 17 game may also take part in a pre-game on-field parade at Globe Life Park in Arlington, weather permitting.

In addition, one Reading Club participant from each library will be selected to participate in a meet and greet with Geovany Soto as well as receiving a Summer Reading Club poster autographed by Soto.
