Longoria home runs will aid animal shelter

ST. PETERSBURG, FL—For every home run Evan Longoria hits in 2012, the Rays third baseman will join Bright House Networks and the Rays to each donate $100 to the Pet Pal Animal Shelter, a no-kill, nonprofit shelter in St. Petersburg.

Longoria and his girlfriend, Jaime Edmondson, have two rescue dogs, Jango, a seven-year-old bull terrier and Tatum, a 3-year-old Boerboel Mastiff.

“Jaime and I share a love for dogs and were looking for a way to support a cause we both deeply care about,” said Longoria.  “Hopefully this promotion will provide financial support and create greater awareness for the work being done by staff at Pet Pal and other shelters like it in the community.  I’m grateful to Bright House Sports Network and the Rays for supporting us in this worthwhile cause.”

Pet Pal Animal Shelter is a no-kill nonprofit organization committed to rescuing dogs and cats from animal shelters that may otherwise be euthanized due to time limitations, illness, injuries or lack of socialization and training.  Pet Pal is also dedicated to educating the public about the pet overpopulation crisis, the importance of spaying/neutering and responsible pet ownership.
