Luhnow to be guest on Astroline Wednesday

Astros offseason call-in radio show broadcast weekly from Buffalo Wild Wings in Midtown

HOUSTON, TX - Newly-appointed Houston Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow will be this week's guest on the club's popular Astroline call-in radio show on Wednesday, January 4, at 7:00 p.m. Hosted by Hall of Fame Broadcaster Milo Hamilton, Astroline is broadcast live from Buffalo Wild Wings at 510 Gray Street.

The show is open to the public and airs on the club's flagship station, KTRH 740 AM. Listeners can call the show with questions at 713-212-5874. Fans may also send questions to Alyson Footer via Twitter at http://twitter.com/alysonfooter. Astroline is also streamed live at www.astros.com. Archived broadcasts from this year's shows will also be available on the team's website.

Luhnow, the 12th general manager in Astros history, joined the club after nine seasons (2003-11) with the St. Louis Cardinals, most recently serving as the V.P. of Scouting and Player Development. He oversaw the Cardinals amateur draft from 2005-11 and his drafts were widely recognized as among the most productive in Major League Baseball. Several players developed in the minor league system played key roles in the Cardinals 2011 championship run. In his first three drafts from 2005-07, Luhnow produced 24 Major League players, which was more than any other Major League team during that span. Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Luhnow was also instrumental in the opening of the Cardinals baseball academy in the Dominican Republic in 2004 and led the re-establishment of the club's operations in Venezuela.

Hamilton began his Hall of Fame radio career as a disc jockey on the Armed Forces Radio Network during Thanksgiving week in 1945. The 2012 season will be his 28th season with the Astros and his 59th year broadcasting Major League Baseball.

Wednesday's Astroline is the sixth of 18 scheduled shows during its five-month run leading into the 2012 baseball season, and the program is broadcast each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The program will move to Florida in March when the Astros report to Spring Training in Kissimmee, FL.

Astroline, presented by Budweiser, features interviews, news, and information on the Houston Astros. The show features a different guest each week, ranging from current and former Astros players to front office personnel.
