The Oakland A's future battery of left-hander Jesus Luzardo and catcher Sean Murphy took center stage Monday in Double-A Midland's 7-1 win against Frisco.
Luzardo, Oakland's No. 2 prospect (No. 31 overall), paced the RockHounds on the mound as he carried a no-hit bid into the fourth inning before completing five scoreless innings. It was the first scoreless performance in nine Double-A starts for the 20-year-old, who, for a second straight start, allowed exactly three hits while striking out eight and issuing zero walks.
Promoted to Midland in late April after three dominant starts for Class A Advanced Stockton, Luzardo has pitched to a 3.80 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP with 54 strikeouts and 11 walks over 42 2/3 innings in the Texas League. He's compiled 79 strikeouts and 16 walks in 57 1/3 frames between the two stops, all while logging a 3.14 ERA and holding hitters to a .215 clip.
Murphy supported Luzardo's strong effort with a two-run homer in the third inning, his sixth homer of the season and second in his past three games. The A's No. 6 prospect (No. 93 overall) finished the game 1-for-4 at the plate, also reaching once via a walk and scoring two runs in the victory.
Murphy, 23, has built upon his breakout 2017 campaign this season by hitting .321/.369/.546 with six homers, 22 doubles and 30 RBIs in 49 games. He's been especially hot of late, too, tallying knocks in nine of his last 10 games while hitting .359 with 12 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

• No. 49 overall prospect Jesus Sanchez (Rays' No. 4) hit a go-ahead two-run double in the top of the 11th inning to help power Class A Advanced Charlotte past Dunedin, 8-6. It was the second double of the game and 15th of the season for the 20-year-old outfielder, who ranks among the Florida State League leaders with a .330 average (fourth), 71 hits (third), 15 doubles (tied-second), 109 total bases (second) and 38 RBIs (tied-fifth).
• No. 53 overall prospect Jo Adell (Angels' No. 1) kicked off a multihit night at the plate for Class A Advanced Inland Empire with a two-run homer in his first at-bat. The 19-year-old outfielder, a first-round pick a year ago, has hit 11 homers in 44 games this season and has four multihit games in his past six contests. Brandon Marsh (Angels' No. 4, No. 94 overall) also had a strong game, tallying multiple hits including his first California League triple as well as three RBIs.
• No. 62 overall prospect Monte Harrison (Marlins' No. 1) had struck out in three of his first four at-bats before he delivered a walk-off, three-run homer that helped Double-A Jacksonville sink Biloxi, 6-5. It was a much-needed hit for the 22-year-old outfielder, who's hitting just .135 (5-for-37) with 20 strikeouts in 10 games this month.

• No. 80 overall prospect Carter Kieboom (Nationals' No. 3) collected two hits in back-to-back games as Class A Advanced Potomac swept Salem in a doubleheader. The 20-year-old shortstop went 2-for-4 in the opener and then added a solo shot as part of another 2-for-4 performance in the nightcap. The home run was Kieboom's 11th of the year, and he's now slashing .303/.392/.504 through 58 games after a 4-for-8, two-walk showing on Monday.
• Brewers No. 18 prospect Kodi Medeiros made an impact on both sides of the ball for Double-A Biloxi, only to see the Shuckers' bullpen blow a late lead and lose to Jacksonville, 6-5. The 22-year-old lefty permitted one earned run on four hits and matched a pair of season highs by striking out eight batters in six innings. At the plate, Medeiros made his first career hit (in his 10th career at-bat) count, blasting a tape-measure grand slam to right field in the fifth inning. What's more, Medeiros' slam came on the heels of a Jake Gatewood (No. 17) inside-the-park home run, his Southern League-leading 12th homer of the season.

• Cardinals No. 12 prospectEdmundo Sosa's pair of solo home runs wasn't enough to keep Double-A Springfield from falling to Tulsa, 6-3. He finished 4-for-5 at the plate, marking Sosa's second four-hit performance in his past six games. Overall, the 22-year-old infielder is hitting .283/.321/.452 with seven homers through 56 games.

• Marlins No. 3 prospectJorge Guzman racked up a season-best 10 strikeouts and worked 5 2/3 scoreless innings as he lowered his ERA to 1.91 for Class A Advanced Jupiter. The 22-year-old flamethrower allowed three hits and walks apiece while throwing 53 of his 92 pitches for strikes. Acquired from the Yankees in the offseason Giancarlo Stanton trade, Guzman has struggled with his control so far this season, issuing 29 walks in 42 1/3 innings, but also has yet to allow more than three earned runs or five hits in any of his nine starts.
• Orioles No. 9 prospect Alex Wells was lights-out in his best and longest start of the season for Class A Advanced Frederick. The 21-year-old left-hander allowed three hits and faced two over the minimum for eight innings, striking out a season-high nine batters and generating another eight outs on the ground. Of Wells' 85 pitches, 65 were thrown for strikes.
• Phillies No. 28 prospect Connor Seabold went the distance for the first time in his career, tossing nine innings of one-run, three-hit ball in Class A Advanced Clearwater's 4-1 win over Tampa. The 22-year-old righty issued one walk and struck out nine, matching his career-best mark. Seabold retired 11 of the final 12 batters and faced two over the minimum in the outing, throwing 76 of his 105 pitches for strikes. 2017 first-rounder Adam Haseley (No. 3) went 1-for-5 as he extended his hitting streak to 14 games.
• Yankees No. 14 prospect Deivi Garcia matched his career high with 10 strikeouts in his season debut for Class A Charleston. The electric 19-year-old righty allowed two earned runs on four hits over five innings in what was his second start of the season. Garcia actually made his season debut with Class A Advanced Tampa on June 5, racking up seven strikeouts and allowing just two hits in 4 2/3 one-run frames. Pitching at three levels in 2017, Garcia compiled a 3.30 ERA with 85 strikeouts and 19 walks in 60 innings.
