MacKenzie Gore provided his own Fourth of July fireworks, recording his first professional win in what was the longest and arguably best start of his career.

The Padres' No. 2 prospect (No. 13 overall) completed a career-high six scoreless innings, allowing four hits with two walks and six strikeouts as Class A Fort Wayne blanked Great Lakes, 7-0. He threw 86 pitches in the outing, 52 for strikes.
Gore's start was his fifth since June 10, when he was activated from a nearly month-long stint on the disabled list for a blister on his left middle finger that also cost him time earlier in the season. The 19-year-old left-hander has pitched to a 1.50 ERA during that stretch, recording 22 strikeouts and five walks in 18 innings.
Selected with the No. 3 overall pick in 2017 Draft and signed for $6.7 million, Gore logged a 1.27 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with a 34-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 21 1/3 innings (seven starts) last summer during his pro debut in the Rookie-level Arizona League.

• No. 47 overall prospect Matt Manning (Tigers' No. 2) made it look easy in his debut with Class A Advanced Lakeland. The 20-year-old righty tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit with two walks and nine strikeouts in the Flying Tigers' 6-0 win over Jupiter. The 2016 first-rounder was promoted to the Florida State League after registering a 3.40 ERA with 76 strikeouts in 55 2/3 innings (11 starts) with Class A West Michigan.
• No. 73 overall prospect Stephen Gonsalves (Twins' No. 4) allowed three hits over six scoreless innings with one walk and six strikeouts in a no-decision for Triple-A Rochester. The 23-year-old lefty was hammered for 17 earned runs in 10 1/3 innings during a three-start span (from May 29 to June 11), but has since given up one earned run in 21 2/3 frames across his past four starts.

• Braves No. 17 prospect Drew Waters snapped out of a 2-for-17 skid with a 3-for-4 performance for Class A Rome that included his eighth home run and 24th double of the season. The 19-year-old outfielder, a second-round pick a year ago, is slashing .295/.344/.527 with 38 extra-base hits and 11 steals in his first full season. Greyson Jenista, whom the Braves selected in the second round last month, also had a big game, going 3-for-4 with three singles and a walk in his second game since being promoted to Rome.
• Indians No. 9 prospect Aaron Civale was nearly untouchable as he faced two over the minimum over seven scoreless innings and led Double-A Akron over Richmond, 8-0. The 23-year-old righty allowed a one-out double in the first inning but retired the next eight batters he faced, and 20 of the final 21 in the one hit performance. He issued one walk, struck out four and generated 11 ground-ball outs. Civale owns a 2.21 ERA in six starts since returning from the disabled list.

• Padres No. 30 prospect Jordy Barley stuffed the stat sheet with a home run, two doubles and a stolen base as part of a four-hit game in the Rookie-level Arizona League. The 18-year-old shortstop also tallied three runs scored and RBIs apiece, finishing the game 4-for-6 in his second straight multihit effort.
• Reds No. 7 prospectJose Siri's third home run in his last 10 games was a second-inning grand slam that helped propel Double-A Pensacola past Montgomery, 7-2. The 22-year-old outfielder also hit a triple to finish 2-for-3 with two runs scored. After posting an .871 OPS with 24 homers and 46 steals in a breakout 2017 campaign, Siri has produced a .245/.274/.436 line with five homers and 10 steals in 43 games between Pensacola and Class A Advanced Daytona.

• Cardinals first-rounder (No. 12 overall) Nolan Gorman went 2-for-5 with his fourth home run in the past four games for Rookie-level Johnson City. One of the top power-hitting prospects in this year's Draft, Gorman has gone deep five times in 42 at-bats as a pro while slashing .286/.423/.667 with 17 runs scored in 12 games. He's scored at least one run in seven straight games and has hit safely in seven of his past eight.
• Joey Bart, the No. 2 overall pick by the Giants in the 2018 Draft, connected on the first home run of his career, a three-run shot in the third inning, and then added a solo shot in the eighth to finish 3-for-4 with four RBIs in his first game with Class A Short Season Salem-Keizer. The 21-year-old catcher, a Georgia Tech product, was promoted to the Northwest League after going 9-for-23 (.261) with two extra-base hits in six games in the Rookie-level Arizona League.
• Tigers third-rounder Kody Clemens connected on the first two homers of his career, hitting solo shots in the fourth and fifth innings in Class A West Michigan's 7-3 win over Lansing. The 22-year-old second baseman had been 2-for-14 at the plate in his first four pro games. Outfielder Brock Deatherage, the club's 10th-round pick, posted his first career five-hit game, going 5-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. He's hitting .385 with a 1.133 OPS in 11 games since his promotion from the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League, where he went deep four times in his first two pro games.
