Bumgarner set for second simulated game

DENVER -- Left-hander was assigned to pitch a second simulated game Wednesday, demonstrating that his quest to recover from injury and rejoin the Giants' starting rotation has continued to proceed smoothly.
Bumgarner threw 25 pitches in a simulated game Saturday at the Giants' training complex in Scottsdale, Ariz. He's recovering from bruised ribs and a sprained joint in his throwing shoulder, which he sustained in an April 20 dirt-bike accident.
Bumgarner, San Francisco's Opening Day starter and a four-time All-Star, is expected to make five Minor League starts on an injury rehabilitation assignment before his expected return to the rotation after the mid-July All-Star break.
• Giants left-hander Matt Moore recorded an unusual pitching line in the opener of this series last Thursday. He struck out seven batters in three innings, but he also yielded 11 hits to the 22 batters he faced while surrendering eight runs.
"I think I did have a little better carry on my fastball," Moore said, explaining his high strikeout total.
Moore was concerned about the six hits he allowed on two-strike pitches.
"At times it felt like they knew what was coming, which is a bad feeling as a pitcher," he said, adding he would try to determine whether he's tipping his deliveries.
• Outfielder will begin a Minor League injury rehabilitation stint with Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, the Giants announced.
Parker fractured his right clavicle when he collided with AT&T Park's left-field wall as he made a running catch of a drive hit by Colorado's DJ LeMahieu on April 15.
