Major Leaguers and Tuscaloosa residents, Lance Cormier And Brandon Medders, to participate in key presentation and dedication ceremony with local family
The dream of homeownership will become a reality for one more family when Major Leaguers and Tuscaloosa natives, Lance Cormier and Brandon Medders, help present the keys to a new home to its new owner on Friday, June 29 at 11 a.m.
The new home was built through a partnership between Major League Baseball (MLB), the Major League Baseball Players Trust and State Farm, who are teaming up with Habitat for Humanity to build homes with families in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Joplin, Mo. – two of the communities devastated by tornados in 2011. The group will build nine homes in these communities – four in Tuscaloosa and five in Joplin, with two of them being framed near Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City in the backdrop of the 83rd MLB All-Star Game.
More than one year after the historic tornado outbreak in the southeastern U.S., State Farm, the state’s largest home and auto insurer, joins Major League Baseball and the Players Trust in helping families impacted by the disaster. Thousands of homeowners suffered tremendous losses as tornados tore across some of the state’s most heavily populated areas. The tornado outbreak claimed the lives of more than 200 people in Alabama and left some of the worst devastation the state has ever seen.
