SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- With the first full-squad workout in the books, new D-backs manager Torey Lovullo planned on taking a breather Friday night.
"I think tonight I might sit back and watch a little TV and turn off the brain," Lovullo said.
Prior to the team taking the field, Lovullo addressed them for the first time as a group and laid out his vision for the season.

"Just outlined some concepts and some of my own personal thoughts and feelings that I have," he said. "Just about being a family and being a group of guys that stays together in the good times and bad. I think a lot of championship teams can find a way to work through all those tests that are thrown at you during the course of a season."
Some other notes from Friday:
• The D-backs announced that Triple-A Reno manager Jerry Narron will fill in as bench coach when Ron Gardenhire leaves the team for 4-6 weeks in April to undergo treatment for prostate cancer.
Narron has managed parts of five seasons in the big leagues.
• Right-hander Zack Greinke threw a bullpen session Friday.
"I think he threw 25 pitches, 30 pitches working on fastball command," Lovullo said. "Little more aggressive than the last bullpen from my vantage point, mixed in a few breaking balls, not many. Just getting a feel for ramping up."

• If it rains as expected Saturday and the team isn't able to get on the fields, the D-backs will have a lighter workout, with most of the action taking place in the batting cages.
It's already scheduled to be a light throwing day for the pitchers.
• Right-hander Matt Koch was held out of drills due to some tightness in his right hamstring. He is day to day.
