OAKLAND -- A's shortstop Marcus Semien had a special guest at the Coliseum on Father's Day -- his father, Damien.
Marcus was born while Damien was playing football at Cal-Berkeley in 1990. He grew up going to Cal games, one reason he picked Cal to play collegiate baseball.
Now Marcus is eagerly exploring fatherhood from the other side of the spectrum following the births of son Isaiah in April 2017 and second son, Joshua, two weeks ago. Both were also in attendance Sunday.

"My boys are still so young that they don't get Father's Day," Semien said Sunday before the A's played the Angels in their homestand finale. "It's cool. My job is to be there for them, to love them and provide for them, and it's been very fun."
Damien was on hand to watch Marcus play Sunday with the hope that his son will go deep as part of Prostate Cancer Foundation's Home Run Challenge, which has given fans the chance to make a one-time monetary donation or pledge for every home run hit by their favorite clubs in a "Team vs. Team" competition. As of Friday, more than $1.85 million had been pledged for 2018, and every dollar goes to PCF to fund critical research to defeat prostate cancer. Since its inception, the initiative has raised nearly $50 million.
