Snapchat ace Stroman highlights today's slate

Blue Jays hurler one of top starters on MLB Snapchat Day

March 11th, 2016

Friday will not only bring with it another full slate of Spring Training games, but fans will also be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at all of the action on Snapchat.
In addition to seven games being streamed on MLB.TV, MLB and all 30 teams will publish Snapchat stories with pictures and videos to document the typical day at Spring Training. Some players will even be sending Snaps directly from the dugout during live games.
MLB to take fans behind the scenes with Snapchat
Blue Jays ace -- and frequent Snapchat user -- Marcus Stroman, aka Stroshow6 on Snapchat, will get the day started when he takes the mound in one of the seven aforementioned games available on MLB.TV.
As for the rest of the action across the league, here are some things to watch for throughout the day (all times ET):

Stroman snaps into action: BOS@TOR, 1:07 p.m., MLB.TV
Stroman will make his third start of the spring when the Blue Jays host the division rival Red Sox at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. Now the club's unquestioned ace following the offseason departure of David Price, Stroman is expected to pitch four innings as he begins to ramp up his workload in preparation for the regular season.
As for the Red Sox, knuckleballer Steven Wright will get his second spring in his bid to land a roster spot in either the rotation or bullpen. Boston is also expected to roll out its starting outfield trio of Rusney Castillo, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Mookie Betts.

Martinez makes spring debut: ATL(ss)@STL, 1:05 p.m., MLB.TV
Cardinals right-hander Carlos Martinez will make his Grapefruit League debut when St. Louis welcomes the Braves to Roger Dean Stadium. It will be Martinez's first start since he was shut down last September with right shoulder tightness, prematurely ending his breakout season. The 24-year-old righty went 14-7 with a 3.01 ERA in 31 outings.
On the other side, non-roster invitee Jhoulys Chacin will make his latest bid for a spot in Atlanta's starting rotation. The veteran righty tossed two scoreless innings in relief in his spring debut against the Mets last Sunday.
Tanaka takes the hill: BAL@NYY, 1:05 p.m., MLB.TV
Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka will make his second start of the spring against the divisional-foe Orioles. Tanaka pitched two scoreless framesagainst the Phillies on Sunday in his first start since undergoing offseason elbow surgery to remove a bone spur.

Shields, Rodon duel in the desert: CWS@SD, 3:10 p.m. MLB.TV
Padres righty James Shields will look to build off his impressive Cactus League debut when he squares off with the visiting White Sox. Shields, who went 13-7 with a 3.91 ERA in his first season with the Padres last year, struck out four batters over two shutout innings Sunday against the A's.
The White Sox will counter with promising young lefty Carlos Rodon, who will be facing the Padres for the second time in as many spring outings. The 23-year-old southpaw held a Padres split squad to just one hit over three scoreless frames on Sunday.

Veteran right-hander John Lackey will make his Cubs debut against the Reds at Sloan Park. Lackey, who signed a two-year, $32 million deal this offseason, went 13-10 with a career-best 2.77 ERA as a member of the rival Cardinals last season.
The Reds, meanwhile, will call on top pitching prospect Robert Stephenson, who will be making his second start this spring in his attempt to earn a rotation spot. The 23-year-old righty struck out two hitters over two scoreless innings in a March 2 outing against the Indians.
