DETROIT, Mich. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced that the club has acquired right-handed pitcher Zach Lee from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for infielder Chris Taylor.
The Mariners 40-man roster remains full.
Lee, 24, was 7-5 with a 4.89 ERA (40 ER, 73.2 IP) with 57 strikeouts in 13 starts with AAA Oklahoma City. He allowed 10 earned runs in his start on April 28, and not including that game, he has posted a 3.84 ERA (30 ER, 70.1 IP) in his 12 other starts. He made his Major League debut with the Dodgers last season, going 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA (7 ER, 4.2 IP) with 3 strikeouts in 1 start.
In parts of 6 minor league seasons, all in the Dodgers organization, he is 52-46 with a 3.98 ERA (318 ER, 720.0 IP) with 564 strikeouts in 139 games, including 135 starts. He was originally drafted by Los Angeles-NL in the 1^st round (28^th overall) of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of McKinney, Texas. He was listed as a Baseball America Top-100 prospect prior to the 2011 (#89), 2012 (#62) and 2014 (#95) seasons.
Taylor, 25, was hitting .312 (77x247) with 41 runs, 19 doubles, 4 triples, 3 home runs, 29 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 63 games with AAA Tacoma. In parts of 3 Major League seasons with Seattle, he hit .240 (56x233) with 25 runs, 11 doubles, 1 triple and 10 RBI in 86 games. In parts of 5 minor league seasons, he has hit .314 (503x1600) with 299 runs, 101 doubles, 29 triples, 22 home runs and 180 RBI in 407 games. He was drafted by Seattle in the 5^th round of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Virginia.
