Mariners activate Dillon Overton from paternity list; option Chase De Jong

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the club has activated left-handed reliever Dillon Overton from the paternity list. Right-handed pitcher Chase De Jong was optioned to AAA Tacoma following last night's game to make room on the Mariners Major League, 25-man, roster.

Overton's first child, a boy, was born Tuesday, April 4.
 
Overton will be in uniform (#60) and available for tonight's 5:10 (PT) game in Houston.
 
Overton was 1-1, 2.75 (6 ER, 19.2 IP) with 16 strikeouts in 7 games (2 starts) with the Mariners this spring. He appeared in 7 games (5 starts) with the Oakland A's in 2016, posting a 1-3, 11.47 (31 ER, 24.1 IP) mark. Seattle acquired him from the A's on Jan. 26, 2017.
 
De Jong (dee-young) appeared in one game with Seattle, making his Major League debut in the 13th inning last night and taking the loss.
