Mariners activate Austin Jackson from 15-day disabled list

RHP Danny Farquhar was optioned to AAA Tacoma post-game May 25.

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager Jack Zduriencik announced that outfielder Austin Jackson was activated from the 15-day disabled list and right-hander Danny Farquhar was optioned to AAA Tacoma post-game May 25.

Jackson (#16) will be in uniform for tonight's game vs. the Rays.

Jackson, 28, was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right ankle sprain on May 4 after injuring himself trying to beat out an infield grounder in the top of the third inning in Houston May 3 and stepped on the foot of pitcher Roberto Hernandez, who was covering first base. With Seattle, this season, he is hitting .242 (23x95) with 11 runs, 2 doubles, 2 home runs and 4 RBI in 25 games. In 9 games during his rehab assignment with AAA Tacoma, he hit .263 (10x38) with 4 runs, 1 double, 1 RBI and 4 walks.

Farquhar, 28, was 0-3 with a 6.46 ERA (17 ER, 23.2 IP) with 20 strikeouts in 20 relief appearances with Seattle. Over his last 14 games he posted an 8.27 ERA (15 ER, 16.1 IP) with 13 strikeouts.
