CHICAGO -- One day after allowing just one hit and a run in seven innings against the Cubs in a 4-1 win at Wrigley Field, Mariners left-hander Wade Miley was dealt to the Orioles for southpaw Aríel Miranda.
Miley was called off the field at Wrigley while he was standing in the outfield during Seattle's batting practice session prior to Sunday night's game with the Cubs and both the Orioles and Mariners confirmed the deal shortly after that.
"It is a bittersweet ending to the trade we made last winter with high hopes," Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said. "We are appreciative of everything that Wade did for the Mariners organization, culminating with his best performance of the season yesterday against the Chicago Cubs, one of the best teams in the league.
"We are glad that Wade can go from one team in playoff contention to another, and to a division that he has had success in during his career. This decision is the best move for the Mariners' present and future."

Miranda, a 27-year-old left-hander from Cuba, is 4-7 with a 3.93 ERA in 19 starts for Triple-A Norfolk this year and also pitched one game in the Majors, allowing three runs and four hits with four strikeouts in two innings in a 9-4 loss to the Mariners on July 3 at Safeco Field.
Dipoto said Miranda would report to Triple-A Tacoma.
"Ariel Miranda is a power left-handed pitcher with a four-pitch mix that is Major League ready that provides us with flexibility," Dipoto said. "We are very excited for what he can bring to the Mariners."
Miranda played professionally in Cuba from 2007-13 and was 22-25 with a 3.78 ERA in 80 games, including 64 starts, before defecting. He signed a Minor League deal with the Orioles last year and went 6-3 with a 3.60 ERA in 14 starts at three different levels in Baltimore's Minor League system in '15, ranging from Rookie Ball to Double-A.
Miley, 29, is 7-9 with a 4.98 ERA in 19 starts for Seattle after being acquired from the Red Sox last December along with reliever Jonathan Aro for pitchers Carson Smith and Roenis Elias. He had lost six straight starts before no-hitting the Cubs for six innings before allowing a base hit in the seventh on Saturday.
Miley is earning $6 million this season and is under contract for $8.75 million in '17, plus has a club option for $12 million in '18 or a $500,000 buyout.
Miley has a career mark of 56-54 with a 4.07 ERA in 157 career appearances with Arizona, Boston and Seattle. He was scheduled to make his next start for Seattle on Thursday against the Red Sox, but the Mariners will be looking to fill that spot now.
"He threw the ball well for us the last three times out," said manager Scott Servais. "It's just decisions are made for the betterment of the club and I'm sure he'll go over there and help them."
Teammate Félix Hernández said it was tough to see Miley go at this point in the season.
"That's tough," said the Mariners ace. "We had a good relationship going on, me and Wade. It's just a business. It is what it is. It's hard."
The Mariners are 52-51 after 7-6, 12-inning loss to the Cubs and are 8 1/2 games back of Texas in the American League West and five games out of a Wild Card spot. They earlier traded left-hander Mike Montgomery to the Cubs for two prospects and also swapped veteran reliever Joaquin Benoit to Toronto for former closer Drew Storen.
