PEORIA, Ariz -- Jean Segura, one of Seattle's key offseason acquisitions, continued his hot Cactus League showing with three hits and three runs in the leadoff spot as the Mariners tied the Rockies, 5-5, in Friday night's final spring game at Peoria Stadium.
The Rockies' own shortstop, Trevor Story, ripped his fifth home run of the spring in the sixth and Charlie Blackmon went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles to put his Cactus League average at .382 with one game remaining.

Segura had a double, triple, walk and stolen base in his 3-for-3 night as he raised his average to .349. Right fielder Mitch Haniger went 2-for-4 and scored twice to hike his own mark to .395, and Robinson Cano drove in a pair of runs to lead Seattle's attack.

James Paxton, who'll start Seattle's third game of the season in Houston on Wednesday, threw three scoreless innings with three hits, one walk and four strikeouts. The big lefty needed 29 pitches to get through the first when he gave up a single and walk, but settled in after that and finished with 60 pitches and some good momentum heading into April.
"I was fighting my rhythm a little bit, trying to find that release point," said Paxton. "But there are going to be days like that during the season when I have to kind of fight for it, so it was good to find a way through it and minimize damage. It was good. I'm feeling ready to go."

Tyler Chatwood, who'll open the Rockies season as their No. 3 starter Wednesday at Milwaukee, gave up six hits and four runs in his own three-inning, 49-pitch outing. But Chatwood didn't walk a batter and felt good about the action of his pitches, which was his idea of success on a surprisingly cool evening.
"I really went out there to work on my curveball and changeup and tighten up on my command, and I feel I did that," Chatwood said. "I had a goal of fewer walks than starts I made this spring, and I accomplished that (five walks in six starts, covering 22 innings). I'll just build off that and keep going.
"I feel really good, and tonight is probably the best I've felt all spring."
The Rockies tied the game in the eighth with three unearned runs thanks to errors by Cano and Kyle Seager and a wild pitch that allowed the final run to cross the plate.
Rockies Up Next: Righty Antonio Senzatela, expected to be included in the season-opening rotation, will start the Spring Training finale against the Mariners and righty Yovani Gallardo on Saturday at 12:10 p.m. MT in a free game on MLB.TV. If all goes well, manager Bud Black could announce the starting rotation. By pitching Saturday, it could put Senzatela in line for the fourth game of the season, Thursday at Milwaukee, and line up lefty Kyle Freeland -- a Denver native -- to make his Major League debut in the home opener Friday against the Dodgers.
