SEATTLE -- Kyle Waldrop, a 25-year-old outfielder who played 15 games with the Reds last season, has signed a Minor League contract with the Mariners that includes an invitation to the Major League camp in February.
Waldrop became a free agent after being designated for assignment by the Reds in September. He hit .227 with a double and one RBI in 22 at-bats for Cincinnati last season, and also had one at-bat for the big league club in 2015.
The left-hander posted a .252/.300/.363 line with five home runs and 27 RBIs in 96 games for Triple-A Louisville last year, and is a career .274/320/.429 hitter in seven Minor League seasons since being a 12th-round Draft pick of the Reds in 2010 out of Riverdale High in Fort Myers, Fla.
