Several teams, including the Mariners, remain interested in signing top outfield prospect Luis Veloz, but the teenager from the Dominican Republic is still seeking a deal.<o:p>
Industry sources linked the Mariners to a $1.2 million signing bonus with Veloz, but it's uncertain if any deal with the club will come to fruition.<o:p>
The Mariners have not confirmed any agreement with the prospect.<o:p>
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Veloz is ranked No. 25 on MLB.com's Top 30 International Prospects list and is one of the top players from the island this year.<o:p>

Tall and athletic, Veloz has a very projectable body that scouts love. He has arguably the best arm in this year's class. He moves well in the outfield, making proper reads and takin great routes to the ball as well.
At the plate, the teenager has shown raw power in batting practice, and like most players his age, he needs to improve on pitch recognition and hitting offspeed pitches.
In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, each team is allotted a $700,000 base and a bonus pool with four slot values based on the team's record in 2015 for the international signing period, which started on Saturday. Seattle's overall pool total for this year's signing period is $2,875,400.
Veloz was trained by JD Ozuna in the Dominican Republic and is represented by Charisse Dash of DPX Sports. He played in the Dominican Prospect League and has experience in Perfect Game showcases.
