Mariners recall LHP Lucas Luetge from AAA Tacoma
LHP Joe Beimel placed on restricted list while attending son's high school graduation
SEATTLE, WA -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves prior to tonight's game vs. the Cleveland Indians:
- Lucas Luetge, LHP, recalled from AAA Tacoma.
- Joe Beimel, LHP, placed on restricted list (attending son's high school graduation).
Luetge (#44) will be in uniform for tonight's game vs. the Indians.
Luetge, 28, appeared in one game with the Mariners this season working 2 1/3 shutout innings on April 25. He allowed 2 walks and struck out 2. Luetge had been recalled from Tacoma April 24 and was optioned back to the Rainiers postgame on April 25. Luetge has spent most of this season in Tacoma, where he is 0-1 with 2 saves and a 5.06 ERA (12 ER, 21.1 IP) in 14 relief appearances.
Luetge appeared in 12 games over 5 separate stints with Seattle in 2014, including 8 appearances in September. Overall he allowed 5 earned runs, while walking 5 and striking out 7 in 9.0 innings with the Mariners. Luetge spent the majority of last season with the Rainiers, going 3-2 with 3 saves and a 3.13 ERA (23 ER, 62.1 IP) in 42 games.
In four Major League seasons with Seattle, Luetge is 3-5 with 2 saves and a 4.35 ERA (43 ER, 89.0 IP) in 111 relief appearances. In his career he has limited left-handers to a .209 (32x153) average, while walking 17 and striking out 39.
