Mariners recall RHP Mayckol Guaipe from AAA Tacoma

RHP Jose Ramirez optioned to AAA Tacoma

DENVER, Colo. - Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Mayckol Guaipe from AAA Tacoma and optioned right-handed pitcher Jose Ramirez to AAA Tacoma.

Guaipe (#53) will be available for tonight's game in Denver against the Rockies.

Guaipe, 24, was 0-4 with a 3.02 ERA (14 ER, 41.2 IP) with 31 strikeouts in 34 relief appearances with AAA Tacoma. Over his last 15 appearances with the Rainiers, has a 1.42 ERA (3 ER, 19.0 IP) with 12 strikeouts after started the season with a 4.37 ERA (11 ER, 22.2 IP) in his first 19 games of the year. In three games with Seattle, is 0-2 with an 8.31 ERA (4 ER, 4.1 IP) during two previous stints in the Majors.

Ramirez, 25, who was acquired from New York at the trade deadline, did not make an appearance with Seattle since being recalled. He is 3-0 with 10 saves and a 2.90 ERA (16 ER, 49.2 IP) in 32 relief appearances with AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. He has recorded 56 strikeouts for 10.15 strikeouts per 9.0 innings, 3rd-best amongst International League relief pitchers. Ramirez also saw action in 3 Major League games with the Yankees this season (0-0, 15.00 ERA) and made 8 appearances in his debut season in 2014 (0-2, 5.40).
