Mariners To Celebrate The 6-Man No-Hitter Thursday Night At Safeco Field

SEATTLE, Wash. -- To celebrate with the fans a game that was both unique and historic, the Seattle Mariners have scheduled a special event for this Thursday evening’s home game against the San Diego Padres. 

Because six Mariners pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers last Friday at Safeco Field (the third no-hitter in Mariners history), tickets in several View Level seating sections will be available for only $6. 

In addition, a special poster featuring Kevin Millwood, Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Lucas Luetge, Brandon League and Tom Wilhelmsen will be given to all fans in attendance Thursday night.  Game time is 7:10 pm.

In Mariners and Major League Baseball history:

• Only one other Major League no-hitter involved as many pitchers.  The other was in 2003 by the Houston Astros in Interleague play against the New York Yankees.
• This was the third no-hitter in Mariners history.  Randy Johnson no-hit the Tigers on June 2, 1990, and Chris Bosio no-hit the Red Sox on April 22, 1993, both at the Kingdome.
• The Dodgers entered Friday’s game with the best record in baseball, so this marked the fourth time since 1900 that the team with the winningest record was the opponent in a no-hitter.
