Berman to join Houston Baseball Media Wall of Honor

PITTSBURGH -- Mark Berman, the long-time sports director and bulldog television reporter at KRIV-TV in Houston, will be inducted into the Houston Baseball Media Wall of Honor on Sept. 26. Berman is currently celebrating his 30th year at the station, having joined the FOX affiliate in 1986.
Each season, a current or former Houston media member is selected by his or her peers for induction into the Houston Baseball Media Wall of Honor for significant and lasting contributions to the landscape of Houston baseball through their work in journalism or broadcasting.
During the Sept. 26 pregame ceremony, Berman will be presented with a duplicate of the plaque that will be added to the Houston Baseball Media Wall of Honor in the Milo Hamilton Press Box at Minute Maid Park. His plaque will join those for previous inductees Anita Martini (2007), Gene Elston (2008), Neil Hohlfeld (2009), Mickey Herskowitz (2010), Bill Brown (2011), Milo Hamilton (2012), Rene Cardenas (2013), Alex Trevino (2014) and Harry Shattuck (2015).
Berman covers all sports in the Houston area, including professional, collegiate and high school athletics. A leader in his industry, Berman is best known for his relentless work ethic, his professionalism and his accuracy in breaking stories.
Since joining the Houston media, Berman has covered every Astros playoff team in franchise history (1980-81, 1986, 1997-99, 2001, 2004-05, 2015), including the club's World Series appearance in 2005. He grew up in Hempstead, Texas, and graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in communications.
