LOS ANGELES -- Mark Trumbo, who plans to participate in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby -- although it's not official -- shows no signs of slowing down.
The outfielder, in his first year with the Orioles, clubbed two more homers on Wednesday afternoon -- giving him a Major League-leading 26 on the year -- in the Orioles' 6-4, 14-inning win over the Dodgers.
"I've had seasons that can actually stack up with this one up to this point," said Trumbo, who was named to his second All-Star team as a reserve on Tuesday. "If I had to narrow it down to just one thing, when I'm getting good pitches to hit I'm more consistent with [them]."
Trumbo's first homer came off Dodgers starter, and good friend, Bud Norris on an 0-2 pitch to lead off the fourth inning. The ball traveled an estimated 396 feet, according to Statcast™, with an exit velocity of 104 mph.
He struck again on a slider from Dodgers reliever Casey Fien to start the top of the sixth, tying the score at 4.
"He's always been a real good player. I've always admired him from afar," manager Buck Showalter said of Trumbo, whom the Orioles acquired in an offseason trade with the Mariners. "Think he's in a real good atmosphere and real good clubhouse, not that he wasn't before. He's been a real good fit from the time we started talking about getting him to Spring Training. You could tell, he's been very comfortable, very consistent."
Trumbo, who has already eclipsed the 22 homers he hit all of last year, has five of the Orioles' 13 multihomer games. He was the first player in the Majors to reach the 20-homer mark and went deep four times on the Orioles' three-city West Coast road trip.
