Marlins acquire two prospects from Rays in exchange for SS Adeiny Hechavarria

The Miami Marlins today announced that they have acquired two minor league prospects, outfielder Braxton Lee and right-handed pitcher Ethan Clark, from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria. The announcement was made by Marlins President of Baseball Operations Michael Hill.

MIAMI - The Miami Marlins today announced that they have acquired two minor league prospects, outfielder Braxton Lee and right-handed pitcher Ethan Clark, from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria. The announcement was made by Marlins President of Baseball Operations Michael Hill.
Lee, 23, has played in 67 games with Double-A Montgomery this season, batting .321 (84x262) with 47 runs, 105 total bases, 12 stolen bases and a .391 on base percentage. Lee, who is currently second in the Southern League in batting and sixth in on base percentage, was named a 2017 Southern League North Division All-Star. Earlier this season, he had a streak of 33 straight games reaching base safely. Lee, who was named the Southern League Player of the Week on May 22, is in his fourth professional season. A left-handed hitter, he was the Rays' 12th-round selection out of Mississippi in the 2014 MLB Draft. Lee is a native of Picayune, Miss.
Clark, 22, has pitched in 12 games, making nine starts, for Single-A Bowling Green in the Midwest League this season, compiling a 3-2, 3.11 mark with 50 strikeouts and a .196 batting average against in 55 innings. A 6-foot-5, 235-pounder, Clark recorded nine strikeouts in six innings in his last start, a 4-0 win on June 24, garnering him Midwest League Pitcher of the Week honors earlier today. Clark, in his third professional season, was the Rays' 15th-round selection in the 2015 MLB Draft out of Crowder CC in Neosho, MO. He is a native of Greenwood, Ark.
Hechavarria, who was placed on the 10-day Disabled List with a left oblique strain on May 10, appeared in 20 games for the Marlins this season. He was acquired by Miami from Toronto in a 12-player deal on Nov. 19, 2012.
