Marlins announce 2017 opening homestand festivities

The Miami Marlins today announced the promotions and festivities planned for the first homestand of the season. In recognition of the 20th anniversary of the 1997 World Series Championship, Liván Hernández, Charles Johnson and Edgar Rentería, members of the 1997 Marlins team, will take part in the ceremonial first pitch prior to the start of the Marlins home opener on April 11 against Atlanta.

The Miami Marlins today announced the promotions and festivities planned for the first homestand of the season. In recognition of the 20th anniversary of the 1997 World Series Championship, Liván Hernández, Charles Johnson and Edgar Rentería, members of the 1997 Marlins team, will take part in the ceremonial first pitch prior to the start of the Marlins home opener on April 11 against Atlanta.
 
Members of the United States Air Force Brass Quintet will sing the national anthem prior to the home opener, and members of the United States Air Force Singing Sergeants will sing God Bless America during the seventh inning stretch. In addition, the Marlins will present Christian Yelich his 2016 Silver Slugger Award pregame, and will recognize Martín Prado, Giancarlo Stanton, Edinson Volquez and Yelich for their participation in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m., with Dan Straily making the start for Miami.
 
Fans are strongly encouraged to arrive early as festivities will kick off at 4 p.m. at the West Plaza, and the parking garages also open at 4 p.m. All entrances will open at 5 p.m.; Fish Family Season Ticket Holders can enter early at 4:30 p.m. through the Third Base Entrance. The first 20,000 fans attending the game will receive a 2017 Marlins Magnetic Schedule. Fans are encouraged to purchase on-site parking in advance, and can visit Marlins.com/Parking to review parking and traffic information in advance.
 
The first homestand also features a Don Mattingly Bobblehead, a Marlins Wall Calendar, Passover at the Park, Jackie Robinson Night, Opening Week Fireworks and a Marlins Easter Egg Hunt. The first 10,000 fans on Friday, April 14, will receive a Don Mattingly Bobblehead, courtesy of Aquafina. On Saturday, April 15, the first 10,000 fans will receive a Marlins Wall Calendar. In addition, the Marlins will celebrate Jackie Robinson Night on Saturday, and have fireworks to celebrate the start of the season. The Marlins will host Passover at the Park on Thursday, April 16, which includes a performance from 8th Day and a kosher for Passover menu available pregame on the West Plaza. On Sunday, April 16, kids ages 10 and under will be able to participate in a Marlins Easter Egg Hunt at the West Plaza prior to the game, and will also be able to take their photo with the Easter Bunny.
